Abstract

It includes 10-year trend statistics on the number arrested (with detail on drug offenses); number and disposition of suspects investigated by U.S. attorneys; number of persons detained prior to trial; number of defendants in cases filed, convicted, and sentenced; and number of offenders under Federal correctional supervision (incarceration, supervised release, probation, and parole). • The percent of suspects prosecuted (of matters concluded by U.S. attorneys) increased from 54% in 1994 to 62% in 2003.
  • Seventy-six percent of defendants terminating pretrial services in 2003 were detained compared with 58% in 1994.
