Montenegro has a Center for Criminology under the administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Center is responsible for the forensic analysis of evidence collected in crimes that have involved the use of firearms. The Center performs forensic analyses related to ballistics, tracing, chemicals, biochemicals, and dactyloscopic. The medical analysis of gunshot wounds is performed by the Forensic Department of the Clinical Center of Montenegro. The proposed new method of determining the distance between the mouth of the firearm tube used by the perpetrator and the wound on the victim from the bullet fired involves measuring the concentration of gunpowder particles around the bullet wound and comparing it with the concentration of gunpowder particles on a target when the same type of firearm and ammunition used in the crime is test-fired from various distances. The proposed method for identifying the person who fired the gun involves comparing the chemical composition of particles detected on the fists of the suspect with the chemical composition from the bullet cartridge found at the crime scene. The matching of these two chemical compositions confirms that the suspect fired the gun used in the crime. 3 exhibits and 6 references
