One hundred and thirteen abstracts are presented which were prepared for the Preliminary 2004 Program: the 2004 National Gang Crime Research Center (NGCRC) Seventh International Gang Specialist Training Conference held in Chicago, IL. These abstracts range in subject matter related to gangs and include, but are not limited to: (1) the infiltration of gangs and extremists into American businesses and the military; (2) the examination of the criminal mind and the criminal gang member; (3) profiling a gang murder; (4) an examination of the political, economic and theological world view of Islam; (5) how to talk to kids, through a special language to assist in the prevention of gang involvement; (6) violence prone at-risk girls; (7) school policies to prevent gang problems; (8) learning how to qualify as a gang expert witness in court; (9) effective public relations in gang prevention and intervention; (10) a review of organized gang crime groups; (11) specific gang probation and parole conditions to prevent further gang involvement; (12) the media and the role it plays in the elevated level of aggression and sexual promiscuity among youth; (13) identifying the different types of violent prone youth groups; (14) the enforcement of gang no contact orders; (15) the infiltration and take over of prison religious groups and correctional rehabilitation programs by gangs and other groups; (16) gang cryptography or gang slang; (17) recruiting and managing gang informants; (17) insight into Gangster Rap and how it relates to gangs; (18) how the role of women in the gang world has changed; (19) how Latino gangs differ from other gangs and how they are rapidly becoming one of the largest active gangs in the United States; and (20) an overview of effective gang suppression strategies being developed and used across the United States.
