National Library Week

Started in 1958, National Library Week is a nationwide observance celebrated by all types of libraries - including the NCJRS Virtual Library. NCJRS invites you to explore the breadth and scope of the NCJRS Virtual Library collection and services. With more than 220,000 collection documents and 60,000 online resources, including all known Office of Justice Programs works, it is one of the world’s largest criminal justice special collections.

  Annotation: This CD-ROM contains data on State and Federal prison admissions and release and parole release for 2001, as well as a user's guide describing the National Corrections Reporting Program for 2001.
Abstract: Any individual admitted to prison, released from prison, or released from parole during 2001 in the United States were included in the sampling scheme, which sampled all individuals incarcerated in 37 States, the Federal prison system, and the California Youth Authority. Variables reported on include incarceration history, current offense, and time served. Demographic information provided includes age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, and educational attainment. The user's guide provides five SAS setup sections and four SPSS setup sections for data collection purposes. PDF codebooks are provided for full documentation of the data.
