Abstract
This guide to detention and dispositional alternative programs for youth focuses on Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. In Manhattan, the guide provides information on the Andrew Glover Youth Program, Boys and Girls Harbor, the Center for Alternatives to Sentencing and Employment, the Center for Community Alternatives, the Dome, the LINK Program, and the Valley. In Brooklyn the guide discusses the Center for Alternative Sentences and Employment Services, the Center for Community Alternatives, Esperanza, and the Link Program. Information is provided on the LINK Program in Queens, while the Bronx programs discussed were: Boys and Girls Harbor, Bronx Connect, Urban Youth Alliance, the Center for Alternative Sentences and Employment Services, the Center for Community Alternatives, the Dome, and the LINK Program. Staten Island unfortunately has no alternative to detention programs. All of these programs allow New York City's juvenile offenders and opportunity to an alternative program in lieu of prison.
