This report presents frequency distributions, with percentages, for all items on the questionnaire of Wyoming's first statewide crime victimization survey, which was conducted in the fall of 2003.
Abstract
The survey was administered by telephone on a statewide random digit sample of households, stratified by county with probabilities proportional to county size. A total of 1,439 interviews were exported to a data file. The questionnaire contained 129 questions that pertained to the respondent's household and residence. Information was then solicited on various types of crime victimization without references to a specific time. Questions also solicited information on particular types of crime victimizations over the past 12 months, including assaults, vandalism, hate crimes, domestic abuse, sex crimes, vehicle theft, and property crimes. Information was also solicited on the circumstances of a victimization, the injuries received, whether or not the police were called, victim characteristics, and offender characteristics. Satisfaction with the services received in response to the victimization was also examined in the survey. Answers to open-ended questions are provided in the appendixes following the frequency distributions.
