This report contains statistics regarding Washington State’s Department of Corrections’ facilities, offender characteristics, population movement, and custody information for fiscal year 2005.
Abstract
This Washington State Department of Corrections’ annual report is divided into five main sections. The first section on the population of adult correctional facilities includes information on the average daily population and capacity, the average daily population and capacity for females, and the average daily population by type of facility. The second section on the characteristics of residents, facilities, and work release includes the distribution of location by race and Hispanic origin; distribution by military service, and distribution of offense by location, by violent crime convictions, by age, by race and Hispanic origin, and by county of conviction; distribution of offense by race and Hispanic origin; distribution of current location of offenders; distribution of county of conviction by admission type; and distribution of all inmates location by risk. The third section on admissions to facilities includes admissions by month, type of admission, age at admission, county of conviction and race, and offense. The fourth section on releases from facilities include: releases by month, type of release, sex and race and length of stay of releases by category of admission, special sentences, offense by new admission, offense for readmission, offense for WEP (work ethnic program) graduate, and offense for DOSA (drug offender sentencing alternative) offenders. The fifth and final section on custody distribution of residents within facilities includes current custody classification by location, most recent placement, population assignment and sex, sex and score, override reason and score, and risk management type. A glossary of terms and abbreviations is also included. Tables
