This is a State-by-State directory of programs and services specifically for children and families of adult offenders, along with such national and international programs, as well as a link to these types of programs in Canada.
Abstract
The program listings, which are current as of 2001, each provide a brief description of the services offered, along with the program's title, a telephone number, a street address, an e-mail address, a Web site, the name of a contact person, the area served, the year established, and the title of any publications related to the program. In addition to programs offered in each State, 31 programs are listed as offering nationwide services, which means that they serve constituencies throughout the United States. The three programs with an international dimension include "Long Distance Dads," which provides a curriculum of parent education for incarcerated fathers in three western countries and countries in Africa; "Prisoners of Love," which provides a Web site with an online support group and links to agencies, publications, and information and referral; and the "World Foundation for Children/Volunteer Farm," which serves the children of inmates through gifts, activities for children, training, technical assistance, and material resources. The link to programs in Canada provides a list of programs that serve families of adult offenders in Canada through its Web site. A program index is provided.
