This report presents an overview of juvenile cases filed and court services reported for Huron County, Ohio's Juvenile Court for the year 2004.
Abstract
In 2004, the Huron County, Juvenile Court reported a 9.27 percent increase over the year 2003 for complaints alleging children to be dependent, neglected and/or abused. The most common reason for these cases being filed is drug abuse by young parents. This annual report presents comprehensive information on juvenile court activities for Huron County, OH, for the year 2004. Data and information are provided in the areas of number of hearings and trials, common placements, detention costs, number of youths in custody for the Department of Youth Services, ages of youth, the percentage of change in number of complaints, sources of complaints, violations charged, residence of youth, dependent/neglected/abused, disposition of delinquent/unruly/traffic, court intervention, mediation, CASA, and community service. The juvenile court is working regularly with various professionals and organizations so troubled youth can attend school, receive mental health and substance abuse help, and learn career-building skills.
