Abstract
Youth Crime Watch is a nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping youth with the tools and guidance necessary to reduce crime, violence, and drug use within their schools and communities. One of the main goals of Youth Crime Watch is to develop youth leadership, which is accomplished through many avenues, such as its Youth Leadership Retreat and its Youth Exploring Solutions Forum. During 2003, Youth Crime Watch experienced unprecedented expansion, adding 5 new States and over 250 new sites around the country. The Youth Crime Watch Expansion Centers for 2003 are listed, followed by a description of the accomplishments of the Youth Crime Watch of Florida, home to more Youth Crime Watch sites than any other State, which focused its attention on drug and violence prevention in schools during 2003. The 4-day 2nd International Youth Leaders Crime Prevention Conference and International Forum was held in Florida during 2003, offering 74 workshops for the 1,500 youth and adult participants. International accomplishments during 2003 are discussed and include the development of sites in Panama and Ghana. Finally, award recipients during 2003 are identified and the pilot program College Crime Watch is introduced.
