Since implementation, the Child Victims Act Model Courts are changing the way in which the courts respond to and process child abuse and neglect cases; changing the way in which the court and the child welfare agency work together to develop, implement, and sustain collaborative reform. The Model Courts work to improve the system and meet the needs of the children and families they serve. By the end of 2004 and with funding support from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, 25 jurisdictions in 21 States and the District of Columbia were actively participating in the Child Victims Act Model Courts Project. This report presents an overview of the developments, emerging trends, and promising practices in the Child Victims Act Models Courts Project from September 2003 to September 2004, detailing the scope of work within the Model Courts.
