Communications-Applied Technology’s (C-AT) Incident Commander Radio Interface (ICRI), Raytheon JPS’s ACU-1000, SyTech’s RIOS, and Link Communications’ TCB-2 are four types of interoperability equipment employed by the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice CommTech program. They are switches used to translate one frequency to another so all radios can talk the same language and therefore communicate with one another. CommTech (formerly AGILE) provides both technological solutions and technical assistance for both short- and long-term interoperability problems to State and local law enforcement agencies. CommTech has been seen in support of public safety interoperable communications, both for daily law enforcement operations and for security at large-scale events.
