Abstract
Carrying a concealed weapon off-duty is a serious responsibility. It must be nearly invisible until needed, have enough security to prevent arming the wrong person, and most importantly, only be used after much training and practice. When choosing the off-duty firearm, the belief “carry the most effective weapon the wardrobe will allow” should not be taken lightly. Firearms that accurately deliver large, fast, heavy bullets should be considered first. This article examines the various type holsters utilized when carrying a full-sized firearm off-duty, such as strong side, the underwear pouch, a small of back (SOB), cross draw, bell band, fanny packs, and ankle holster. In addition, it discusses the deployment or drawing of a firearm from the various holsters identified.
