This Department of Corrections report from the State of Washington provides information on offender characteristics and population movement and custody as of June 2006 for all adult correctional facilities in the State.
Abstract
Information is offered in table format, with no narrative content. The first section of the report presents the average daily inmate population and capacity by month and by facility for fiscal year 2006, as well as the average daily female inmate population and capacity. The second section presents the characteristics of residents, facilities, and work release, beginning with the distribution of location by race and by military service. The distribution of offense by race and by location is offered, followed by information about the distribution of location by violent crime convictions, by age, by race, and by county of conviction. The distribution of all inmates’ location by risk management type is described, followed by tables on the age distribution of inmates over the last 5 fiscal years and the distribution of offense category over the last 5 fiscal years. The percentage of violent versus nonviolent crime convictions among Washington State inmates over the last 5 years is offered as is the sex distribution over the last 5 fiscal years. The third section describes admissions to facilities by month, by type of admission, by county of conviction, by offense, by age, by sex, and by sentencing authority. The fourth section provides information on releases from facilities by month, by type of release, by race, and by length of stay. The average length of stay of releases by category of admission over the last 5 fiscal years is considered and information about releases by sex over the last 5 fiscal years is presented. The final section outlines custody distributions of residents within facilities.
