Abstract
Twenty-one sessions make up the Driving with Care (DWC) Level II Therapy program. These sessions include the areas of program orientation, skills in cognitive self-control, social and relationship skills building, relapse and recidivism prevention, community responsibility skills, and community responsibility and relationship skills. In addition to these 21 sessions of Level II Therapy, there is an extended Level II consisting of 10 therapy projects covering healthy play and leisure time, does work match your job, learning to search for a job, learning to relax, preventing relapse, preventing recidivism, skills in time management, getting support from groups and others, giving support through mentoring, and sharing one’s future autobiography. The Level II Therapy program referred to as the Driving with Care (DWC) Therapy attempts to prevent future impaired driving, to prevent recidivism, and to avoid a pattern of alcohol and other drug (AOD) use that has caused an individual problems leading to impaired driving. The workbook provides a guide for participants in DWC Therapy. For each therapy session, objectives are outlined, the key ideas are presented, and exercises and work sheets are provided that help an individual apply the topics and material to their own situation. The program is intended to go beyond impaired driving education and bring about changes in attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that lead to AOD use problems and impaired driving behavior. The DWC Therapy has 4 treatment tracks, provides a basic 21 session treatment program, and a plan for extended therapy sessions. Charts, tables, and worksheets
