This article presents a description and overview of four E-sites offering resource information for communities on safe schools.
Abstract
The National Institute on Drug Abuse offers resource information and educational materials on drug abuse and addiction research and featuring teaching materials, such as Brain Power! for elementary students and Mind over Matter for middle school students. The U.S. Department of Education, Tips for Helping Students Recovering from Traumatic Events is a free online booklet offering practical tips to assist students and parents recovering from natural disasters and traumatic events. The National Institute of Mental Health Publications offers numerous publications and educational resources in an easy-to-read format on a wide range of mental health issues, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in both children and adults. Through this online site, funding opportunities are available. The National Mental Health Information Center Publications under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration provides information on mental health and contains hundreds of resource publications. Online publications offer a wealth of information and are provided now in easy to print formats on the Internet. These resources offer a wealth of information for educators to share with students and parents to raise awareness of mental health and school violence issues and provide a safe and secure school environment.
