This report presents the recipients from the 2007 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, Awards Ceremony held in Washington, DC.
Abstract
On April 20, 2007, the 2007 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, Awards Ceremony, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime was held honoring individuals and programs for their outstanding efforts on behalf of victims of crime. Eight awards were presented for those individuals and programs exemplifying the long-term commitment that characterize victim service providers, some of whom are also victims of crime. Recipient for the National Crime Victim Service Award was Oglala Sioux Tribe Victims Assistance in Indian Country, Pine Ridge, SD. Recipients for the Award for Professional Innovation in Victim Services were Dr. Ludy Green, President and Founder of Second Chance Employment Services in Washington, DC, and the Intimate Violence Enhanced Services Team in Jacksonville, FL. Recipients for the Volunteer for Victims Award were Donna Marie Kukura of the Long Island, New York/Suffolk County Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children and James D. Huffman, a victim advocate with Families and Friends of Violent Crime Victims in Washington. Recipient for the Ronald Wilson Reagan Public Policy Award went to Dan Levey of Phoenix, AZ. Recipients of the Allied Professional Award were ADT Security Serves Aware Program and Dr. Randall L. Brown, medical director of the Baton Rouge Rape Crisis Center. Recipient of the Federal Service Award went to Karen Marie Spinks, Victim Witness Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Virginia. Recipient of the Crime Victims Fund Award went to Jennifer A. Youngs, Assistant U.S. Attorney of North Carolina. Lastly, recipients of the Crime Victims Fund Award were Jenna Oyler, Pennsylvania, Patsy Spier, Colorado, and Debra Puglisi Sharp of Delaware.
