Fifty-four words are defined as they are used in the recommendations and guidelines developed by the SWGDRUG. The glossary pertains to "analysts" who conduct "qualitative" and "quantitative" analyses of seized drugs. Terms pertinent to such analyses are also included in the glossary. Glossary terms address the procedures used in the handling of evidentiary drug samples, the techniques used in analyzing the samples, and the types of results that may be obtained from drug analyses. Other glossary terms refer to procedures used to ensure that test results fulfill the purposes for which the drug analyses are conducted, such as "validation," "verification," and "trueness." Terms used in procedures for ensuring the high quality of a laboratory's environment, facilities, and management procedures are also included in the glossary. A variety of sources were used by the SWGDRUG in the development and adoption of the glossary's definitions. These sources included the United Nations International Drug Control Program's "Glossary of Terms for Quality Assurance and Good Laboratory Practices" (1995).
