Hair can be an extremely important as physical evidence in a court of law. The literature listing presented here is designed to assist forensic hair examiners who need information and support for courtroom forensic challenges. Prior to the bibliography listing, the author explains that the science of microscopic hair examination has been practiced for over 60 years and combines the fundamental aspects of microscopy, biology, anthropology, and zoology. Forensic hair examiners also need to have training in areas such as cosmetics, medicine, and environmental effects. While the bibliography presented is limited in its scope, it should provide both the novice and the experienced hair examiner with a useful reference for training, review, and research. In general, the references provided exclude issues related to DNA analysis of hair, the transfer or persistence of hair, and legal articles. References
