This study collected and analyzed the Short Tandem Repeat (STR) DNA data from the Malay population in Malaysia.
Abstract
Comparisons of the two groups of blood samples from the unrelated individuals of the Malaysian Malay population revealed no significant differences among their statistical estimates. Moreover, the scatterplots demonstrated substantial similarities between groups. Indeed, only one of the nine loci varied from the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium expectations using the exact test. The results increase the database’s STR data for the Malay population in Malaysia. The research method involved generating allele frequencies for the nine STR genetic loci included in the AmpF/STR Profiler Amplification Kit. The frequencies were then compared between two groups of blood samples from unrelated individuals of the Malaysian Malay population. Blood samples were acquired from blood banks within various hospitals and from samples submitted for casework analysis. Figure, references
