This annual report presents statistics on Missouri's holiday traffic crashes in 2006, in order to assist law enforcement agencies in developing traffic safety programs for holiday periods.
Abstract
Over the Memorial Day holiday, 52 persons were killed and 2,941 were injured in Missouri traffic crashes from 2002 through 2006; in 2006, there were 1,227 traffic crashes in which 12 persons were killed and 591 were injured. Over the July Fourth holiday, 74 persons were killed and 3,664 were injured from 2002 through 2006 in Missouri; there were 1,669 traffic crashes in 2006 in which 12 persons were killed and 840 were injured. Over the Labor Day holiday, 73 persons were killed and 2,822 were injured in traffic crashes in Missouri from 2002 through 2006; in 2006, there were 1,108 traffic crashes in which 18 persons died and 502 were injured. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, 82 persons were killed and 2,993 were injured in traffic crashes in Missouri from 2002 through 2006; in 2006, there were 1,387 traffic crashes in which 15 persons died and 581 were injured. Over the Christmas holiday, 33 persons died and 1,797 were injured in traffic crashes in Missouri from 2002 through 2006; there were 936 traffic crashes in 2006 in which 6 people died and 382 were injured. Over the New Year holiday, 48 persons died and 2,223 were injured in traffic crashes from 2002 through 2006; in 2006, there were 1,119 traffic crashes in which 8 persons died and 454 were injured.
