Because of the broad offering of topics, agencies sent more than one trainer to the ILEETA 2007 Conference. Instructor and armorer certification courses included many traditional defensive tactics, baton, and armorer programs. There were also a number of programs that were somewhat different, such as the Tactical Police Performance Instructor Certification. All participants practiced and performed law enforcement-specific drills to enhance tactical methods and improve shooting performance. Because the brain needs stimulation, many of the conference instructors offered cognitive stimulus. Cognitive training involves decisionmaking and trainers must equip officers with information to use their mental abilities. The 2007 ILEETA Conference offered 34 separate instructor certification and armorer certification courses. ILEETA is slowly evolving from a defensive tactics type of conference to a conference that meets a broad spectrum of instructors. The ILEETA Conference goal is to offer the best instructor focused offerings that go beyond defensive tactics.
