Selected findings for 2006 include: (1) four anti-reproductive-rights crimes were reported, which was five fewer than the number reported for 2005; (2) the crimes occurred in 4 of California’s 58 counties; (3) health facilities were the reported location of all four crimes; (4) assault was the most frequently reported crime (three), followed by vandalism (one); (5) one of the crimes was reported as a crime of violence; the remaining three were categorized as nonviolent; (6) two of the three assaulted victims were male, one White and one African-American, while the third victim was a Hispanic female; and (7) information about three suspects was reported. The three were White males who ranged in age from 18 to 70 years of age. An anti-reproductive-rights crime is defined in section 13776(a) of the California Penal Code as a crime committed partly or wholly because the victim is a reproductive health services client, provider, or assistant, or a crime that is partly or wholly intended to intimidate the victim, any other person or entity, or any class of persons or entities from becoming or remaining a reproductive health services client, provider, or assistant. This report includes information reported to the Department of Justice by California law enforcement agencies for 2006 on anti-reproductive-rights crimes, offenses, victims, and suspects, and allows for the evaluation of information pertaining to each anti-reproductive-rights crime reported.
