This 2007 Annual Report of the King County Sheriff’s Office (Washington State) presents data on crimes, criminal investigations, and special operations.
Abstract
Countywide, 17, 303 Part I offenses (homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, vehicle theft, and arson) were recorded for 2007, a 19.2-percent decrease from 2006. There were 20,527 Part II offenses recorded for 2007, a 10.7-percent decrease from 2006. Countywide data are also provided on dispatched calls for service, adult charges/arrests, juvenile charges/arrests, traffic enforcement, officers assaulted, total gang-related incidents, total domestic-violence-related incidents, and reports of hate crimes/malicious harassment. Crime data are presented by precinct and contract cities. Data from the records of the Criminal Investigation Division address the investigative activities of the Major Investigations Section, the Special Investigations Section, and specialized units activity. Statistics are also provided on adult and juvenile charges, arrest, and citations; the work of the Data Control Unit; dispatched calls for service by patrol districts, and response times. Statistics on special operations address traffic enforcement activity; traffic accident investigations; specialized units, such as the Air Support Unit, Bomb Disposal United, and Hostage Negotiations Team; the Marine Unit; community-oriented activity; and metro transit activity. Extensive tables
