The four Byrne Edward Memorial Grant and Justice Assistance Grants’ (known now as Byrne-JAG) funded Multi-jurisdictional Task Forces operating in Idaho during fiscal years 2005 and 2006 were the Boundary County Drug Task Force, the Sundance Drug Task Force, the Mini-Cassia Drug Task Force, and the Bear River Drug Task Force. These four projects are cooperative programs involving two or more separate law enforcement agencies. Agencies forming these task forces have formal agreements to work together as a team to enforce drug laws, with a focus on street, mid or high level traffickers. Combined, the four task force projects received $395,756 from the Byrne Grant and the Byrne-JAG grants. A comparison with State arrest data indicates that drug task forces arrest a higher percent of high level drug offenders, with a larger portion of people arrested for transporting, buying, and selling drugs than that reported by all police agencies in Idaho. The Byrne-JAG funded task forces reported 11 percent of all their arrests were drug distribution or selling, compared to 7 percent of all arrests reported in the State of Idaho. Tables
