Covering the first 6 months of 2007, this report contains information on the work conducted by the Office of Good Governance, Human Rights Unites within the Ministries of Government of Kosovo, providing information with regards to activities in the areas of human rights, good governance, anti-discrimination, anti-corruption, and against trafficking in human beings.
Abstract
One of the priority engagements and focus areas of the Office of Good Governance (OGG)/Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) was, and remains, the full implementation of the Anti-Discrimination Law. In the areas of good governance, during the reporting period, OGG/OPM paid special attention to fighting corruption, respectively improvement of governmental transparency before citizens and interest groups as well as society in general. In the area of anti-trafficking with human beings work was conducted in prevention through raising awareness and education; and promotion through provision of assistance to victims in repatriation, reintegration and social inclusion, etc. Special attention, during this reporting period, was paid to human rights. Efforts were made to raise, continuously, necessary sectorial capacities for monitoring and implementation of human rights in each ministry, gender equality and equal opportunities with continuous investment in definition of affirmative actions, institutional capacity building, and coordination of cross-sectorial and institutional activities. This report covers the period January through June of 2007. During this reporting period, the Government of Kosovo, together with its international partners, continued its general capacity building efforts and substantive definition in provision of advice on good governance as well as application of international standards on human rights at all institutions. During this period, the main and long-term aim of the implemented activities remained promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental rights of all citizens of Kosovo.
