The evaluation of the latest research suggest that researchers have spent the majority of their attention examining either socio-demographic or typological features of female child sexual offenders (FCSOs) at the expense of developing research investigating FCSOs treatment requirements. It is suggested that future research concentrate on developing research and adapting methods established with male sexual offenders to enable adequate and informative investigation of FCSOs treatment needs. The research and literature pertaining to FCSOs appears to have gained some positive attention and momentum over the past decade. However, relatively few researchers have conducted research of direct relevance for treating FCSOs. In this review, recent available research is examined of FCSOs socio-demographic features, available typological distinctions, and research investigating the potential treatment needs of FCSOs.
