Abstract
Working in partnership with the Palm Beach County, FL Sheriff’s Office, Strategos International conducted a Ballistic Shield Tactics program that made conceptual advancements in the use of shields. The goal of the program was to demonstrate mastery of ballistic shield tactics combined with Physical Conflict Resolution methodology. This article reviews the various shield tactics taught within the Ballistic Shield Tactics program: (1) basic combat stance, (2) shouldering of the shield, (3) ballistic shield stack, and (4) reloading shield operator’s weapon with ballistic shield. The basic course work concludes with testing and demonstration of Ballistic Shield Course skills. The program premise is based on Strategos International identification of many tactical teams moving too slowly to clear areas.
