The World Health Organization identifies gender-based violence (GBV) or violence against women as a major public health and human rights concern across the globe. With the changing demographics of the United States, it is important to consider the multiple perspectives and cultural values and norms related to GBV. While presenting global perspectives on GBV, this paper presents comments received from young women while conducting an institutional review board-approved study of focus groups with young women on help-seeking related to violence. Applying cultural theory, the paper discusses the findings and provides interventions for forensic nursing practice. The quotes presented with this paper illustrate cultural influences on attitudes related to violence. References
