This article briefly discusses successful methods in police recruitment as presented at the Performance Institute’s National Summit on Law Enforcement Diversity Recruitment in California.
Abstract
The focus of the Performance Institute’s (an educational organization) National Summit on Law Enforcement Diversity Recruitment held in San Diego, CA entailed the successful strategies for ways to attract, retain, and advance personnel who reflect the diversity of the community. A panel of experts presenting at the Summit explained approaches that have worked for various agencies in the finding and retaining of personnel, especially culturally diverse personnel and how those lessons can be adopted by others, such as police agencies. Two senior officers, a Sergeant from Kentucky and a Captain from California present what their departments learned about successful recruiting.
