Results of the study indicate that high numbers of Israeli youth experience various forms of dating violence in their relationships, that females’ dating violence is high, that nationality and gender do relate to dating violence and to its correlates, and that the role of culture and of the environmental system are probably the main reason for the differences found between the two groups. While much has been learned about dating violence over the last three decades, there are still many unanswered questions. The objectives of this study, consisting of 1,357 students, were to find what variables were related to dating violence among heterosexual Jewish (n=640) and Arab (n=717) male and female youth in Israel, to explore the prevalence and severity of dating violence among them, and to determine whether there were differences in the relation of these variables to dating violence among these groups.
