This report summarizes the activities carried out in 2007 by the institutes comprising the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program network.
Abstract
Prepared in accordance with Economic and social council resolutions 1992/22, 1994/21, and 1999/23 and based on contributions from the 16 institutes comprising the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program network, this report presents a summary of the activities carried out in 2007 from these regional and affiliated institutes in the areas of training, technical cooperation, actions against transnational organized crime, prison overcrowding and alternatives to incarceration, juvenile justice, special needs of women within the criminal justice system, United Nations penal justice rules, restorative justice, crime prevention, organized crime, trafficking in persons, technology and computer-related crime, counterterrorism, post-conflict interventions, United Nations standards and norms in crime prevention and criminal justice, correction program, community-based corrections and incarceration, victimization, drugs and crime, judicial capacity-building in Afghanistan, reconstruction of the justice system in Iraq, money laundering and terrorist financing, education programs, forensic sciences, small arms, action on cybercrime, criminal law reform, recovering stolen assets, and work plans for 2008.
