Divided into 11 sections, the first section of the report presents matters calling for action by the Economic and Social Council or brought to its attention, including: draft resolutions recommended or adopted by the Economic and Social Council, draft decisions for adoption by the council, and matters brought to the attention of the council in the form of resolutions focusing on crime prevention in areas, such as illicit trafficking and sexual exploitation. The next seven sections focus on deliberations and actions taken by the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in the areas of crime prevention and criminal justice responses to urban crime and the sexual exploitation of children, world crime trends and the integration and coordination of efforts among world crime prevention and criminal justice agencies and organization, use and application of United Nations standards and norms in crime prevention and criminal justice, policy directives for the crime program of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, strengthening the crime program of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the role of the Commission as its governing body, followup to the Eleventh United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and preparation for the Twelfth Congress, and the provisional agenda for the 17th session of the Commission. The last three sections pertain to other related business, adoption of the report of the Commission on the 16th session, and the organization of the session.
