Report highlights include: (1) a total of 248 Tennessee agencies reported Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted (LEOKA) for 2006; (2) the number of reported LEOKA incidents decreased 9.5 percent from 2005, there were 2,316 reported LEOKA incidents in 2006 compared to 2,537 reported in 2005; (3) the majority of LEOKA incidents were reported occurring between 6:00 pm to 12:00 am at 42.3 percent; (4) a total of 2,092 LEOKA incidents were cleared, 88.5 percent were cleared by arrest; (5) the most frequently reported age range for LEOKA offenders was 18-24 at 27.2 percent followed by 25-34 at 26.2 percent; and (6) the most frequently reported LEOKA offenders were male, 78.1 percent.
