Abstract
This document from the Court Statistics Project, National Center for State Courts, is a concise, graphically oriented report that provides easy access to State court statistics. The report is interactive, giving users online access to PDF versions of the information. Data for this report were obtained from State court administrators in the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The data is presented in two main sections: Appellate Courts and Trial Courts. The Appellate Courts section contains data on Appellate Caseloads, Appeal Caseloads, Death Penalty Caseloads, and Original Proceeding/Other Appellate Matter Caseloads. The Trial Courts section contains data on Civil Caseloads, Domestic Relations Caseloads, Criminal Caseloads, Juvenile Caseloads, and Traffic/Violations Caseloads. The report also highlights three States that received awards of excellence for reporting court data: Tennessee - Appellate Courts; Minnesota - Trial Courts, Civil Caseloads; and Arizona - Trial Courts, Traffic/Violations Caseloads. The appendixes contain an Index of States Included in Section Graphics, Court Statistics Project Methodology, and State Court Caseload Statistics. Tables and figures
