  Annotation: This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) In Focus report presents information on major grant programs offered by OJJDP.
  Abstract: This report presents a brief description of the major grant programs supported by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). These grant programs are designed to help strengthen the juvenile justice system, aid communities in preventing juvenile delinquency and holding juvenile offenders accountable, and protect and safeguard the Nation’s young people. The grant programs discussed include the Formula Grants Program which supports States’ efforts to improve their juvenile justice systems; the Research, Evaluation, Technical Assistance, and Training program that provides assistance for research dealing with the prevention, treatment, and control of juvenile delinquency; and the Developing, Testing, and Demonstrating Promising New Initiatives and Programs, which provides funding to States, local governments, and other organizations and agencies to develop and test promising initiatives aimed at preventing, controlling, and reducing juvenile delinquency. Other programs examined include Incentive Grants for Local Delinquency Prevention Programs, Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program, Anti-Gang Programs, Tribal Youth Program, Juvenile Accountability Block Grants Program, Juvenile Mentoring, Child Abuse Training for Judicial Personnel, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program, Improving the Investigation and Prosecution of Child Abuse, Missing and Exploited Children’s Program, Internet Crimes Against Children Program, Defending Childhood Initiative, Safe Start Program, Community-Based Violence Prevention Program, and the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
