Abstract
This book recounts the most nefarious crimes and infamous criminals of the 19th and 20th centuries with in-depth accounts of such lurid subjects as white slavery and cannibalism. A compilation of authentic true crime stories that took place during the 19th and 20th centuries, this book contains some very well known crime tales as well as some of the lesser known ones of the past 120 years. It covers a multitude of types of crimes in a year-by-year, newspaper style format, starting with the year 1800 and progressing through until1993. Included are notable criminals, such as Ned Kelly, Lizzie Borden, Jack the Ripper, Al Capone, Charles Manson, and Jeffrey Dahmer, just to name a few. There are also a host of new and unfamiliar cases as well. The chronicles include editorial opinion, giving the appropriate context of the time in which the crime occurred. Most articles are brief yet still informative and are a great starting point for any further research. Over 450 photographs accompany the stories.
