The author uses the term "predator" as a metaphor for emotional and psychologically abusive behavior. A "predator" is an individual who seduces and later abuses the well-being of his/her victim, whose needs and desires are suppressed by the "predator" in order to make the victim subservient to the predator's desires and needs. The aim of this book is to increase potential and actual victims' awareness of the dangers and manipulative behaviors of predators and to provide them with effective and practical tools for dealing with the behaviors of predators. The book is essentially a guide for taking charge of one's own life without controlling others for one's own needs. Some practical suggestions in this regard are to do things in the order of their importance ("prioritize"); distribute responsibilities ("delegate"); encourage and allow others to take care of their needs ("supervise"); plan the time to nurture yourself ("manage your time"); and identify and communicate your wants and needs ("set your boundaries").
