Abstract
This report is part of the larger Annual Report on the State of the Drug Problem in the European Union and focuses on new developments regarding the drug situation in the Netherlands in 2010. The report is divided into 14 chapters: chapter 1 examines developments in drug law and policies in the Netherlands; chapter 2 examines developments in drug use in the population and specific target groups; chapter 3 presents development in drug prevention activities; chapter 4 presents developments in problem opiate users; chapter 5 discusses developments in drug-related treatments; chapter 6 discusses health correlates and consequences of drug use; chapter 7 examines responses to health correlates and consequences of drug use; chapter 8 discusses social correlates and social reintegration of former drug users; chapter 9 discusses the problem of drug-related crime, prevention of drug-related crime, and prison; chapter 10 examines drug markets in the Netherlands; chapter 11 looks at developments in national treatment guidelines; and chapter 12 examines the problem and public health implications of mortality among problem drug users. Chapters 13 and 14 contain the bibliography and annexes.
