It emphasizes the need to protect victims from exploitation and additional trauma, providing basic information about the potential risks and benefits of interaction with the media, and stresses the critical need for advocates to empower victims to make their own informed choices. Part 2, Dignity - provides practical suggestions about how to foster and manage relationships with the media in a professional productive manner. A tip sheet provides tips for crime victims to keep in mind when considering requests for interviews. It can be used to help victims of crime navigate their personal tragedies by using the extraordinary power of the press to communicate their point of view and to help them and their communities to heal.
