Three feature articles address issues in school violence and police corruption, as well as the current status of GSR (gunshot residue) examinations.
Abstract
"Addressing School Violence" develops the argument that investigators can make accurate threat assessments in school settings by recognizing the warning signs. "Police Corruption" maintains that policing requires perfection and unyielding ethics, and it ultimately depends on each employee's own level of knowledge, rationality, and devotion to moral excellence. "The Current Status of GSR Examinations" notes that GSR examinations have continued to improve through research, advancements, and communication. Three articles are from the magazine's "Departments." In the department entitled "Bulletin Honors," "Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial" describes the only monument in the State that honors both police officers and firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. In the department entitled "Perspective, Accountability: Prerequisites Required" advises that as organizations struggle to function with fewer resources, managers must hold their employees accountable for their responsibility to improve efficiency. In the department entitled "Leadership Spotlight," "Seasons" suggests that after a promotion to a job with increased responsibility, law enforcement officers should mentally prepare for it by viewing the job in terms of "a new season of life."
