This issue includes seven primary articles: 1) Recruiting Women, Qualified Officers to the United Nations Police Division describes the gains for police agencies sending highly qualified police officers to United Nations field missions for 1 year or 18 months; 2) Supporting the Work of Police Officers in Post-Conflict Countries discusses the International Network to Promote the Rule of Law (INPROL), an organization that deploy police officers to conflict zones to assist in promoting the rule of law and specifically to aid in the reform of dysfunctional police forces; 3) INTERPOL: Connecting Police for a Safer World attempts to dispel the myth of the nature of INTERPOL, the rationale behind its creation, and the services provided by the organization every day to each of its 188 member countries; 4) Policing Aboriginal Critical Incidents tells what the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has learned about policing Aboriginal critical incidents, the history, and the lessons learned; 5) Bridging the Interoperability Gap through Integrated Partnerships explains how Integrated Border Enforcement Team (IBET) interoperates to provide an effective mechanism for enforcing laws on illegal border crossings and smuggling; 6) How Location-Based Services Can Improve Policing discusses the capabilities and use of hand-held personal mobile technology for law enforcement officers; and 7) Safety and Health Protection Efforts in the Police Service reviews RAND Corporation research on police officer safety and health, and provides recommendations for improving police officer safety and health protection efforts.
