This autobiography provides a Christian redemption story. It describes Eddie Spencer's life of pain and poverty during his childhood. It discusses the humiliation and revenge which launched him on his journey of crime and violence in the streets of the Mississippi Delta. It chronicles how he ended up at Parchman Penitentiary and, in 1982, at the age of 19, as he was contemplating murdering two fellow inmates with is handmade knife just to strengthen his tough reputation, how God intervened and provided him deliverance. The encounter took only a moment but he put away his "shank" and made the choice that changed his heart. In 1988, Eddie Spencer left prison a free man. For several years, he worked with Young Life in Jackson, Mississippi, and in 1989 USA TODAY recognized him as 1 of 50 national drug-fighting heroes. Currently Eddie has a ministry and speaks at schools, churches, and conferences.
