There were 493,132 Group A offenses reported by the contributing agencies. The total number of crime incidents was 436,645, with the greatest number reported in August. Of the 19,807 violent crimes reported, 46.4 percent occurred in a home. There were 4,779 victims of the 4,487 forcible sex offenses reported; 85.8 percent of the victims were female. The theft of money accounted for a property loss of $42,652,906. Firearms constituted 18.8 percent of all known weapons used in aggravated assaults; some type of injury resulted to 70.2 percent of the victims of aggravated assault. There were 10,862 completed motor vehicle offenses, resulting in a total value loss of $67,036,793. There were 137,686 arrests for Group A offenses and 208,198 arrests for Group B offenses. There were 1,225 assaults on law enforcement officers; 29.8 percent resulted in some type of injury to the officer. Of the 170 hate crimes reported, 34.7 percent were assault offenses, and 51.8 percent involved vandalism/damage to property. Reports under the IBR system no longer contain clearance rates, since the system does not accurately reflect the volume of clearances each department produces in a given year. In addition, the number of arrests in a jurisdiction does not provide precise offense clearance information, since the arrest of one person could clear multiple offenses. Extensive tables and figures
