This report provides statistical information on sexual assaults reported to law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin.
Abstract
This report is organized into four separate sections related to different elements of sexual assaults: offenses, victim, relationships, and offenders. Findings indicate that there were 4,633 sexual assaults reported to law enforcement agencies in 2009, down from 4,650 in 2008; forcible fondling was the most reported sexual assault, accounting for 43 percent of total sexual assaults; the overall clearance rate for sexual assaults reported in 2009 was 57 percent; the victim residence and the offender residence combined comprised of nearly two-thirds of the location sites in reported sexual assaults; sexual assaults were most often reported as having occurred on Saturdays and Thursdays, in the months of June and January; juveniles are nearly three times more likely than adults to be victims of sexual assault; the 16-20 year old age group represents the highest offending population, while the 11-15 year old age group were the highest victimized age group; the rate of domestic sexual assaults had stabilized over the past two years.
