Abstract
The "Crimes" section presents statistics for eight offenses - homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny over $400, and arson - which were selected because of their seriousness, frequency of occurrence, and likelihood of being reported to law enforcement. The "Arrests" section presents adult and juvenile statistics for selected felony and misdemeanor arrest categories, as well as the personal characteristics of the arrestees. The "Dispositions" section contains statistics on the final disposition given to adults arrested for a felony. Juvenile dispositions handled at the adult court level are also included. Statistics on the type of sentence are displayed for three major conviction offense categories: violent offenses, property offenses, and drug offenses. The "Adult Corrections" section presents statistics on adult offenders who are under State or local supervision in institutions or are receiving parole or probation services. The "Criminal Justice Expenditures and Personnel" section provides statistics on the costs incurred by State and local agencies for the operation and maintenance of the criminal justice system. Statistics are provided on full-time personnel working at law enforcement, prosecution, court, and corrections levels. The final section, "Other Databases," presents statistics on two specialized issues: citizens' complaints against peace officers and calls for assistance that involve domestic violence. Extensive tables and appended information on data characteristics and known limitations, computational formulas, arrest offense codes, a criminal justice glossary, and notes
