This report from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services presents information on the work of the agency from 2006 through 2010.
Abstract
Major findings from this report include: 1) between 2006 and the end of 2009, index crime in New York State fell 6 percent, violent crime decreased almost 11 percent, and property crime declined 5 percent; 2) the number of DNA samples awaiting processing dropped from 49, 542 to 3,377; 3) the agency opened Crime Analysis Centers in 4 major cities - Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany; 4) significant advances were made in reentry, juvenile justice, and sex offender management programs; and 5) agency expenses were significantly reduces through improvements in staffing. This report from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services presents an overview of the work of the agency for the years 2006 through 2009. The data in this report is presented in two sections. Part 1 of the report includes information on crime trends for the period 2006-2009 for efforts to enhance public safety, statistics on arrest and fingerprint processing, work of the Crime Analysis Centers, and sex offender management and reentry programs. Part 2 of the report presents information on the staffing and expenditures of the agency. Charts
