This issue of Law and Order contains six primary articles dealing with correction issues and the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).
Abstract
The first article, Best in the Business, contains 13 short essays detailing the work of 13 individuals who have implemented successful correctional programs. The second article, Understanding and Implementing PREA Programs, examines the standards of the Prison Rape Elimination Act. The third article, Pennsylvania Works to Eliminate Sexual Assault in Prisons, examines Pennsylvania's efforts to comply with the PREA. The fourth article, Corrections Officials + Advocates = Safer Prisons and Jails, discusses the changes happening in prisons as a result of the PREA. The fifth article, California Takes a Proactive Approach to PREA, discusses California's efforts to implement PREA. The sixth article, PREA Implementation Plan in Anticipation of the National Standards, examines the proposed national standards of the PREA. Additional columns highlight specific issues dealing with corrections.
