Abstract
"Training Course Evaluations" argues that properly conducted evaluations can ensure that core problems are addressed, officer safety is increased, and liability for the officer and the organization is decreased. "Tips to Live Within the Budget" presents tips for staying within a limited budget, including extended maintenance agreements and energy conservation. "Fitness for the Desk-Bound Officer" presents simple exercises and stretches to help desk-bound officers stay in shape. "Defense for the Full-Contact Office, Part 2" shows how officers can use economy of motion when executing blocking techniques. "The Chief's Interview" explains why the police chief's interview is important and essential. "New CPR Standards" explains the importance of CPR and describes one slight change in performing it. "Identifying Criminal Street Gangs, Part 2" explains the importance of and how to create a multi-agency task force that will identify the location and activities of street gangs in a region. "Psych Drugs App for Smartphones" describes an "app" for police officer smart phones that provides valuable information on "psych drugs." In addition to the featured articles, the "Grant Guide 2011" presents instruction in grant writing; "Outsourcing HR for Public Safety" profiles a human-resources consulting firm that specializes in personnel selection for the public-safety industry, and "The Cloud Computing Update, Part 1" explains how the benefits of cloud computing and mobility solutions translate into more time to serve the public good.
