This recent edition of the report Crime and Justice in Colorado, contains updated information on crime and the criminal justice system in the State for the period 2008 through 2010, along with crime data published in previous editions. Data for the report were obtained from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, and numerous Colorado agencies including: the Department of Corrections, the Division of Youth Corrections, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Colorado Integrated Criminal Justice Information System, and the Office of Adult and Juvenile Justice. The data in the report is presented in eight sections and is comprehensive picture of both the criminal and juvenile justice systems in the State. The report begins with two sections that present general demographic information and an overview of crime the State and the Nation. Section 3 presents data on adults in the criminal justice system, while section 4 contains information on juveniles in the juvenile justice system in Colorado. Section 5 addresses the issues of recidivism in the State, and section 6 examines the problems of crime and delinquency, and the prevention of both. Section 7 provides arrest information on juveniles and adults in the State for the years 1980 through 2009, and section 8 presents crime category detail, felony class ranges, and number of prison releases for offenders released from incarceration in fiscal year 2009 who were convicted of serious criminal offenses.
